Next.js Realtime Job Board — Case Study

A scalable, real-time job marketplace built with Next.js, enabling instant job postings, live applicant updates, and seamless employer–candidate interactions. Designed for speed, reliability, and a frictionless user experience.

Next.js Realtime Job Board — Case Study

A fast‑growing recruiting firm approached us with a clear challenge: their existing job board was slow, outdated, and unable to support real-time interactions between employers and applicants. They needed a modern platform that could scale, deliver instant updates, and feel as responsive as a native app.

We architected and delivered a Next.js‑powered realtime job board that combines serverless APIs, WebSockets, and edge‑optimized rendering to create a seamless hiring experience. Employers can publish new roles, update job statuses, and review applicants in realtime. Candidates see new opportunities the moment they go live—no refresh required.

The platform uses Next.js App Router, React Server Components, and incremental static regeneration to balance performance with dynamic content. A dedicated WebSocket layer pushes live updates to all connected clients, while a serverless backend handles job creation, search indexing, and applicant workflows.

The result is a lightning‑fast, modern hiring platform that feels alive—reducing time‑to‑hire, increasing applicant engagement, and giving the client a competitive edge in a crowded market.

Architecture Overview

  • Frontend: Next.js App Router, React Server Components

  • Realtime Layer: WebSockets (Socket.io or Pusher)

  • Backend: Serverless API routes (Node.js)

  • Middleware for their existing recruiting marketplace application.
  • Database: PostgreSQL + Prisma ORM

  • Search:  Elastic

  • Deployment: AWS EC2 instance using Docker container.

Results

  • 70% faster page loads

  • Instant job posting visibility

  • 40% increase in applicant engagement
